Colorado Springs experienced roof repair and replacement experts

The Roof Deployment Project: Providing Roof Replacements for Veterans in Need

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project partners with Platinum Preferred roofing contractors like Integrity Roofing and Painting to provide new roofs for veterans in need. Since 2016, the program has provided roof replacements for more than 400 military members. In addition to their partnership with local contractors, Owens Corning has also expanded the program by partnering with charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity to reach more markets and help more veterans.

Our Experience with the Roof Deployment Project

Integrity Roofing and Painting recently participated in the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, providing a new roof to U.S. Army veteran Karmen Allen through the homeownership program of Pike’s Peak Habitat for Humanity. Karmen, a single mother, expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided and how excited she is to move her family into their new home in July. The crew at Integrity was honored to have the opportunity to give back to a deserving veteran through this meaningful project in our local community.

Our Commitment to Giving Back

As a veteran-owned and operated company, Integrity Roofing and Painting holds the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project close to our hearts. We employ many veterans, making this program’s mission of providing new roofs to veterans in need a deeply personal cause. It was an honor to participate and give back to veterans in our local community, and we look forward to continuing our involvement and supporting veterans in the future.

Colorado Springs Roofers and Price Increases https://integrityroofingandpainting.com/colorado-springs-roofers-and-price-increases/ Fri, 05 May 2017 16:41:27 +0000 https://integrity.wh70xmaq-liquidwebsites.com/?p=4384 Colorado remodeling industry and Colorado roofing industry have experienced labor shortages for a long time. A strong demand in the housing market in Denver and Colorado Springs has already reduced the number of available roofers. Now that the largest storm in our history has hit things are going to really be interesting for roofers in Colorado Springs. I’ve been in this industry for decades and this is the most volatile roofing environment that I’ve ever been in. The recent labor price increases in Colorado Springs, Colorado are creating chaos in the roofing industry. I’ve never seen anything like this and I’ve been in the insurance restoration industry for decades. Colorado Springs roofers will have no shortage of work, but it’s not going to occur without headaches and price increase. Many roofing companies in Colorado Springs will do one years worth of work in four months. The larger companies will perform 2-3 years worth of work in 4 months. Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC is installing up to 12 roofs per day during the aftermath of the largest storm in Colorado Springs history. We’re aware of another contractor roofing Colorado Springs at a rate of 20 homes per day. The headaches are coming and have already occurred and one of the biggest issues is skilled labor. We are fortunate to have incredible teams of skilled roof installers, however we had to increase our prices due to outside pressures. Let me share a little history first.

Around 1998 we had five prices in approximately six months. This was due to oil prices at the time and I thought it was crazy. I’ve worked in the after math of hurricanes and hailstorms and I’ve seen roofing labor prices spike after these storms. As a matter of principle I refused to pay these unnecessary spikes in labor.  This storm is different I had no choice, but to pay all of our roofing crews additional funding to match the offers from competing roofers in Colorado Springs. The industry has changed because of the shortage of construction workers and there is nothing that anyone can do.

I love our free enterprise and that we have few barriers in economics. Don’t get me wrong this is awesome, but chaos can ensue. Out of town roofing companies that are better known as storm chasers are pursuing local installers and are paying up to 35% higher rates than the traditional local market could pay, but that was before the storm. Local roofing companies were shocked when overnight we were forced to pay $500-$1,000 more to roof a home. There are going to be a lot of happy construction workers before years end. Overnight these men received a 35% pay raise. That’s one heck of a pay raise and it occurred only because of supply and demand.

Colorado Springs is in the aftermath of the large hailstorm in our history and I am thankful that roof installers have risen to the occasion. The price increases are part of the equation and everyone has to share in the expense. The insurance companies are aware of the price increases and have adjusted pricing to match present day fair market value. The number one software in the insurance restoration industry is Xactware. Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC has implemented this software for pricing all roofing projects. We’ve been using this software for almost a decade now. At one time in our journey we hand wrote inspections and created our own pricing system for estimating jobs. Xactimate is a great product when all roofing components are included in the scope than the price is representative of fair market value, with the exception of smaller roofs which require a surcharge for mobilization.

Colorado Springs roofers have adjusted prices according with supplier and labor increases. Today in May of 2017 there is still a work load of roofs that are being replaced from last years historic hailstorm. This is a good time to have your roof replaced.

Integrity Roofing and Painting Rises to Meet the Roofing Needs in Our Community after a Massive Storm https://integrityroofingandpainting.com/colorado-springs-massive-storm-results-new-protocol-integrity-roofing-painting/ Fri, 05 Aug 2016 00:36:11 +0000 https://integrity.wh70xmaq-liquidwebsites.com/?p=4314 In order to serve you better we have implemented necessary changes. The recent catastrophic hailstorm resulting in widespread damage to our community necessitating a quick response from our company. Immediately, integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC went into action by mobilizing our teams to conduct emergency cover ups.

Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC Has Been Busy Providing Emergency Services for Colorado, Springs

Many areas throughout our area had entire neighborhoods where windows and skylights needed boarding up. We sprung into action and began assisting homeowners in drying in their property. Our teams have been busy installing plywood over windows and skylights.

Since that time we’ve begun assessing roof damage and have discovered that most roofs have experienced catastrophic functional damage.

Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC is concerned for our friends and neighbors for we know that since the storm we haven’t had any rain. There have been many properties where the underlayment is exposed due to the hail damage. In addition, many homes have plastic vents which were punctured. Homeowners are unaware and they are exposed to the elements. It is our desire to dry in these properties and to restore their roofs to pre-storm condition. We want your property to be protected from the coming rains and future snow, therefore our first priority has been to dry in your roofs and windows.

Time is of The Essence!

Additionally, our biggest concern is for the roofs to be replaced quickly. The amount of damage that our roofs sustained requires near immediate attention. Winter is around the corned and we are concerned for homeowners whose roofs are not replaced before their roof is blanketed with snow. Once these roofs are blanketed with snow and the thaw and melt cycle begins we are concerned that many homes will experience roof leakage.

THE FOLLOWING TEMPORARY CHANGES ARE NOW IN EFFECT

  • Integrity Roofing and Painting, makes roof replacements easy, therefore we are implementing the following benefits for the overall community;
  • Emergency roof cover-ups are our first priority at this time. If we are available we will have someone over to get you dried in.
  • Integrity Roofing and Painting will install roofs per insurance inspection. There is no need for you to waste your time getting inspections and at the same time we want to focus our energy and effort on customers that are ready for roof replacements.
  • Our second priority, is to install a new roof on your home before winter sets in.
  • We are not planning on performing painting services at this time. Our focus is getting homes dried in before winter arrives.
  • We are referring all guttering, stucco work, windows and collateral damage at this time to the proper trade professionals.

HOMEOWNER’S DO NOT NEED TO GET ROOF ESTIMATES AT THIS TIME!

Time is of the essence and your roof many need to be replaced before winter sets in. You do not need to get roof inspections for the insurance company will ultimately set the price. There may be some insurance companies in the area that are recommending the you get several inspections on your roof. This information is not reflective of the dire need of this hour. Wisdom would say that it would be wise to have your roof replaced as soon as possible. The insurance company never over pays for roof replacements, so there is no benefit for a homeowner in getting several inspections.

Fair market value determined by a general consensus of local roofers helps to determine the roofing prices in our market. Even so the insurance companies are on the low side and not on the high side of present day fair market value. If a homeowner is worried that the insurance company might be overpaying for a roof replacement, you can rest assured that is not the case. This is not the best time to ask roofers to give an inspection on a roof install when it’s the insurance company that’s paying for it and you really need to make sure your roof is dried in for the winter. Ideally, the best Colorado Springs roofer would be the best candidate for the roof installation. Many of the top roofers will soon be booked for this season. I would recommend that you get on the roof installation schedule with one of the best roofing companies in Colorado Springs, Colorado today.

The recent hailstorm devastated roofs and there is no need to evaluate many of the roofs. We already know how bad the roofs are in most of the subdivisions for one of our ten managers has been in your area already. However it’s extremely important to have your roof inspected to make sure that there are no holes in the roof or in the vents. If we are available we will cover these areas to prevent water damage to the interior of your home.

Our solution is make the process easy for you. Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC will install the roof according to Xactimate scope and pricing. We’ve been using Xactimate for a decade and now, most every insurance company utilizes this software for estimating roofs. We’ve conveyed to our customers for years that our price is the same as the insurance companies and this is 100% accurate, unless the insurance company neglects to pay for roof components that need to be replaced. Most of the time we will supplement for these items.

Ultimately we will install your roof for the amount of the insurance roof proceeds. The only thing you have to do is pay your portion of the roof deductible. The insurance carrier pays the rest. This is the most streamlined process for expediting your roof replacement. I’m sure that your busy and getting multiple roof inspections isn’t something that you really want to do. There is no reason for you to get roof inspections. Choose one of the Colorado Springs Roofers that you think will serve your needs the best. Contact the roofer and ask them to place you on their roofing schedule. This will expedite the roof replacement process and get you into a new roof before winter sets in.

No Need for Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC to Meet With the Insurance Adjuster

Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC traditionally likes to meet with the insurance adjuster to point out roof damage. This storm was so devastating that adjuster’s don’t need our input. It’s obvious to everyone that the roofs are destroyed and our presence may slow down the process. The only benefit is for one of our team members to request that certain roof components be included in the roof scope. No matter what we will install our Integrity Roofing System on every roof. We are roofing Colorado Springs one roof at a time and we’d love to install a new roof on your home. Contact us to get your roof replacement scheduled.

ROOFERS COLORADO SPRINGS | ROOFING INDUSTRY CHAOS https://integrityroofingandpainting.com/roofers-colorado-springs-roofing-industry-chaos/ Tue, 02 Aug 2016 18:33:25 +0000 https://integrity.wh70xmaq-liquidwebsites.com/?p=4295 The storm of chaos brewing in the residential roofing industry has culminated with a spike in questionable business ethics and unsustainable practices. In 2016 we have seen several new roofing companies in Colorado Springs that are engaging in illegal and questionable marketing decisions. There are companies and individuals selling roofs without a roofing license. Salesmen from other states expecting and demanding that we hire them after they hear of large hailstorms in Colorado Springs. There are several roofers Colorado Springs has to offer, and a homeowner may select one that illegally covers deductibles. Insurance companies are denying to pay for components that they once covered. Multiple new roofers in Colorado Springs and several seemingly established companies are stating that they will upgrade roof systems for free to a class 4 shingle. That sounds like a good deal, but in a moment I’ll explain that it’s not. Roof salesmen pursue homes that have yard signs, committing tortuous interference, in order to offer illegal incentives while using strong arm sales tactics to persuade clients from using an ethical and law abiding roofing company to hiring them. Out of town roofing installers, unfamiliar with our codes are being hired by Colorado Springs Roofing Companies without any training and they are dispatched to the field to install roofs for Colorado Springs homeowners, without supervision. Out of town storm chasing salesmen are hired by Colorado Springs roofing companies to sale and oversee roof installs without any understanding of our codes, snow loads and ice dams. Let’s take a look at several of these issues and how the homeowner is impacted by these practices. There is a lot of chaos in the Colorado roofing industry, especially after a hailstorm.

Several Roofers Colorado Springs Has to Offer are Committing Roof Deductible Insurance Fraud

This is an ongoing issue that we’ve addressed many times. It is obvious that homeowners are willing to collaborate in this crime. Even after Senate Bill 38 became law homeowners and roofing companies in Colorado Springs turned a blind eye to the legal ramifications and willingly continue to engage in this detrimental and illegal activity. If what I’ve been told is true than the good news is there are several insurance companies that have started to levy heavy fines on Denver Roofers. Fraud examiners have begun interviewing homeowners in Denver and I suspect that Colorado Springs is next. What good is the law if it’s not followed by it’s constituents? This is exciting to witness the beginning stages of accountability in this arena. If you’re a homeowner and you happen to be in public service take my advise and don’t commit roof deductible insurance fraud. If you ever run for a public office you may be exposed. If you’re a fireman, police officer, attorney, physician, school administrator, corporate officer, military officer, etc… and you are up for promotion and their is some opposition and may not take much effort for someone to discover your insurance fraud. Many insurance company fraud departments welcome homeowners participation in exposing the roofers Colorado Springs building department list as licensed roofers. It would behoove the building department to remove roofers licenses once they commit fraud. I can’t wait to see aggressive changes in this area.

Here’s how I see this issue impacting the homeowner and the Colorado roofing industry. Majority of the Colorado roofs that are replaced are due to a hail storm. Insurers’ certainly are in the know, and are aware of providers that are roofing Colorado Springs homes while cheating the industry by sending in false documents to cover deductibles. It’s the homeowners responsibility to pay their deductible to the roofer. The roofer is stealing from the insurance company with the help of the homeowner. Ultimately, the insurance companies should reduce all payments to roofers in Colorado Springs. From the insurance companies perspective they are over paying the present day fair market value. If roofers can absorb a deductible than that roofer and homeowner were overpaid. The truth of the matter is that roofer is probably cooking his books and stealing from Worker’s Comp and the I.R.S. There’s no way that insurance companies are over paying for a roof claim. The other thing that’s taking place is the roofer is hiring inferior installers or short changing the homeowner on the roof components. At the end of the day if these practices continue and go unchecked, it will drive ethical and law abiding roofers Colorado Springs has seen and known for years out of business. This would be disastrous for homeowners would only have unbridled companies to provide for their roofing needs.

CERTAIN NEW ROOFERS COLORADO SPRINGS HAS RECENTLY SEEN ARE  GIVING A SUPPOSEDLY FREE UPGRADE TO A CLASS 4 SHINGLE

Several new comers are upgrading roof systems for free to a class 4 roof. The insurance company doesn’t over pay so how can this be done?

  • Fraudulent reporting to the I.R.S.
  • False reporting to Pinnacol Insurance. if they really have workers compensation insurance.
  • False documentation of general liability and workers comp insurance.
  • Underpaying employees
  • Underpaying sub-contractors
  • Paying their workers with cash.
  • Incomplete roof systems

The fact of the matter is, I don’t see how this can be done legally. These roofing contractors in Colorado Springs, CO are cheating the system, therefore it’s not a free upgrade. It will have severe repercussions in the roofing industry.

SALESMEN AND COMPANIES ARE SELLING ROOFS WITHOUT A ROOFING LICENSE IN COLORADO

Over the past couple weeks we have been approached by gutsy individuals and companies that have sold a lot of roofing in Colorado Springs and this people don’t have a roofing license. We are shocked at their audacity in approaching Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC to ask us to use our roofing license and to install roofs for these roofing imposters.

This is chaos at it’s finest. Unscrupulous people presenting themselves as experts in the roofing industry without proper licensing, insurance and personnel. Buyer beware!!! By now some greedy Colorado Springs roofer has agreed to this scummy activity. Pikes Peak Regional Building Department should revoke the license of a Colorado Springs roofing company that agrees to take over these illegal roof contracts. These contracts are illegal because of several provisions of Senate Bill 38.

INTEGRITY ROOFING AND PAINTING, LLC WILL NOT HIRE MIGRATORY ROOFERS OR SEASONAL SALESMEN

Any good sized company, that has been roofing Colorado Springs has experienced the following scenario after a large hailstorm. Integrity Roofing and Painting, LLC is a medium sized company that is large enough to be here decades from now and small enough to know you personally. Recently we’ve been approached by many  roof salesmen and roof installers from out of state for seasonal employment. As a legitimate Shingle Master Company we refuse to hire anyone during a hailstorm. It is not our desire to swell beyond our ability to manage and oversee our projects.

Many Colorado Springs roofing companies will hire out of town installers that have zero understanding of vulnerable roof ares resulting from our wintry environment. Two years ago there was a very large roofing company in Colorado Springs that hired out of town salesmen and roof installers. Many of their roofs were not installed according to code and as a result 30 or so roofs had to be removed and replaced. Thank God that the building department caught these issues and enforced the code with the large and well know company. I’m not bashing anyone for I will not repeat their name, my only point is that in a storm greed may take over the better part of valor and judgement. Hire a company that exercises restraint and only uses their crews and sales team.

OLD SCHOOL PROTOCOL FOR DOOR TO DOOR ROOF SALESMEN IS BEING IGNORED

There was a day in the not to distant past when a roof salesman would not knock on a door that had a yard sign from a Colorado Springs roofer. Today a whole different breed of salesmen exist that target roofing signs from other companies. This class of salesmen heavy arm home owners by seducing them into breaking their current contract because of a seductive offer that’s too good to be true. We’d recommend to every homeowner that once they’ve selected any one of the myriad of roofers Colorado Springs has to offer than to honor their covenant  with that company and to tell the roof solicitor, “no thanks.” These roof salesmen that try to break contracts could be prosecuted for tortuous interference.

Financial Impact of Hailstorm on Colorado Springs Economy https://integrityroofingandpainting.com/financial-impact-hailstorm-colorado-springs-economy/ Thu, 21 Jul 2016 01:54:18 +0000 https://integrity.wh70xmaq-liquidwebsites.com/?p=4002 Colorado SpringsThe overall financial impact of a hailstorm to Colorado Springs may benefit our economy

Most people see the impact of hailstorms and immediately think that it is a negative issue. Yes, it is in fact a hassle but we make roof replacements easy here at Integrity Roofing and Painting. There are many roofing companies Colorado Springs has to offer and we’d love to be your roofing contractor of choice. With summertime we know that roofing companies are swarming your neighborhood with door knocking, mail outs, emails, sales calls, etc. There are many reasons why this is a positive and negative occurrence. I would like to take the time to discuss this with you so you can make the best decision possible when this time of year hits!

Roofer Colorado Springs

Many of us notice that we are having issues after a hailstorm in Colorado Springs and call out the roofer of our choice to have them come take a look at the damages. Your roofer Colorado Springs contractor will then asses the damages on their own or with your insurance companies adjuster to determine whether the roof is totaled and needs a full replacement or just minor repairs.

Insurance deductible

It is important for you to set a fund aside for occurrences like this. Reason being you do not want to be in a situation where something needs to be fixed immediately and you are not able to due to not having the amount of your deductible. By law you are required to pay your deductible. In some cases iRf you do not asses and fix the damages almost immediately you could have an even bigger situation on your hands that you do not want. So by setting money aside for deductibles you are helping yourself and one of your biggest assets, your home.

Saving money for a new roof

New roof has economic benefitsOne of the items that every homeowner should budget for is a new roof. It’s pretty easy to prepare for this and to know when the roof should be replaced. By setting aside money in a home maintenance fund a homeowner can budget for a new roof when it’s needed. Here’s the catch, if a homeowner had fully funded their roof replacement fund in a hailstorm totals the roof and if the homeowner has replacement cost coverage on their policy than this homeowner had a financial windfall. No longer will they have to pay the total amount for their roof replacement. They will only need to cover their deductible. That’s a financial benefit to their economy.

Real estate value

The condition of your roof is one of the first things buyers notice and appraisers assess. Missing, curled, or faded shingles are not appealing and do not add any value to your home. If your neighbors have added and maintained the appearance of their homes then yours will especially take a hit on value and you will still pay taxes as if your home is as updated as theirs. According to the “2015 Remodeling Impact Report” from the National Association of Realtors, the national median cost of a new asphalt single roof for roofing companies Colorado Springs is about $8,000. Some roofs appear to look a lot better when you remove the dirt, moss, lichens, and algae. Of course, Colorado Springs and Denver roofs do not experience algae, lichens of moss. This information is general and beneficial throughout the country. If you have and issues with moss or algae we do not recommend for you to remove these issues on your own. We recommend that you have a HAAG certified roof inspector come out first to make sure that there are no damages and or issues that need to be addressed before having someone clean. We have Project Managers here at Integrity Roofing and Painting that are Certified HAAG Roof Inspectors and are able to inspect your roof for damage. Primarily in Colorado Springs or Denver we will inspect roofs for hail damage, manufacturers defects and other roof ailments.

Roofers Colorado Springs

The number one reason to call roofers Colorado Springs is for safety! You want to make sure that your loved ones are protected from harsh elements. As your roof gets older it starts to deteriorate and it loses it ability to protect the interior of your home from the elements. The elements put you and your loved ones at risk by mold and water damage if you do not get the issues resolved. Water intrusion can also cause the drywall to buckle in and severe damage to the insulation of your home. These can all occur from the impact of a hail storm! Make sure that when you are looking to replace your roof that you are aware of the warranty associated with doing so. Go over Impact Resistant Shingles VS Non Impact Resistant Shingles. You want to make the best educated decision when it comes to protecting your home. Also when purchasing a home you want to make sure that you have certified inspector to inspect your roof so that if there are any severe damages they are addressed before you make such a huge investment.

Insurance Premiums

I’d like to add this thought for consideration, even if insurance providers aren’t directly at fault for any economic crisis, the fallout may result in increased regulations of these necessary financial institutions. Insurance companies are dealing with more government oversight and more complex rules that lead to increased attorney costs. For example, the Federal Insurance Office and Federal Reserve banks aggressively scrutinize any insurance company that has a chartered back as subsidiary. In addition, the federal government has stricter oversight of insurance companies’ board of directors and regulators closely scrutinize the actions of each insurance company’s chief risk officer. At the end of the day premiums will probably rise whether or not you file an insurance claim. This is understandable, if you consider the necessity of the insurer to remain solvent, rate hikes must occur no matter what. Insurance companies are not the bad guys. I happen to love capitalism and the ability to make a buck. We truly live in the finest country in the world. Our system may not be perfect, but it works well.

Retail businesses in Colorado Springs may benefit from a hailstorm to the city

Colorado Springs has just as much of a benefit to having roofs replaced as you may have. Reason being, this raises value to the city itself! As an example, when you go on a vacation, would you rather stay in a city that people take care of or one that is run down?

In addition when contractors come into our cities they generate revenue for Colorado Springs by staying in hotels, eating at local restaurants, getting gas and other supplies in your area. So the chain affect of roof replacements and other home improvements are truly a benefit to you and the community that we live in. Contractor’s that are roofing Colorado Springs residential properties after a large hail storm will have a tendency to spend money locally. Highlands Ranch Hailstorm and the Onslaught of Roofers https://integrityroofingandpainting.com/highlands-ranch-hailstorm-onslaught-roofers/ Fri, 01 Jul 2016 16:59:40 +0000 https://integrity.wh70xmaq-liquidwebsites.com/?p=3993 Highlands Hailstorm and the onslaught of roofers all in one day

The roofers have invaded suburbia after the recent hailstorm. “How is the suburban family going to adjust to this temporary inconvenience?”

So you bought a home in a nice family friendly neighborhood in the Highlands Ranch area or maybe you have been living there for years now. You might have wondered why some near you are getting their roof replaced, or you have had your roof replaced for the second time last year. “No your neighbors are not getting a new roof because they didn’t like the color.” Although it is possible, odds are they are not. You might have known, or you learned from me just now, that you live in an area with frequent hailstorms. For your information the storms occur as early as May all the through late September.

The approaching hailstorm

Sunny day in Denver

Could be a beautiful summer day early in the morning on a weekday. Nice and sunny with temps already in the low 60’s with predicted highs in the upper 80’s. You hear about a high chance for severe storms that could produce large hail in the afternoon watching the morning news, or maybe you heard it on the radio.

The hailstorm would not relent

The predicted storm may have little impact at this time on your daily routine so you continue your day just like any other workday. While you go about your normal day others may be preparing for what is likely to come, a hail storm!

Now what’s so special about hail storms? Why does it attract many contractors? Definitely not the hail stones themselves. It is one of the contributors to the multi-billion dollar industry of storm damage restoration. Many of the roofing contractors in Denver like to work in Highlands Ranch and when a storm occurs they will pursue business.

As you pull up to your garage you notice the storm approaching, sky is dark and wind is picking up. You take a few seconds and admire the beautiful creation of the storm clouds. Definitely worthy of a photo! Then it starts, hard wind driven rain pours all around you!

You can hear the large rain drops crashing against your home when all of a sudden it gets even louder! You can’t help but look out the window and see white balls landing everywhere bouncing off the ground. It’s hailing and they appear to be the size of marbles which start to

cover the grass to where it begins to look white.

The arrival of a hailstorm

This continues for a few minutes and then you hear a loud thud, then another and another! It looks like ping pong balls are falling from the sky! Some hit your windows and you wonder how the glass didn’t break from such hard impacts. Large hail falls for about 10 to 15 minutes followed by some more heavy rain. The streets are now flooded with rivers of hail along with some of your neighbor’s dumpsters coasting along.

When the storm has calmed it is followed by light rain. You can’t help the urge to go outside to check the size of some of the hail. You pick some up and they are up to 1.75” in diameter!

Knock, Knock!

Who’s There?

The first wave of contractors starts to hit. They have been driving around, watching the storm while they receive data of large hail reports that are streaming in through various apps and news media. You notice a lot of trucks driving around your community; some have a company decal, while others don’t. Let’s go over some of the things to look for and what to avoid in Highlands Ranch after a significant hailstorm.

First, when a company knocks on your door it does not mean that they are a bad company just chasing storms. Many of the roofers Denver has seen and known for years are going stop by your home because they are fed up with losing business to out of town storm chasers.Storm chasers follow storms around the country so they will not always be here. You want to make sure that someone will be around to provide service if any problems pop up.You get your first knock on your door! Who can it be? You are still in shock from the storm, which only took place an hour ago; but you are curious, so you go to the door.Upon opening the door there stands a person with a business name on their shirt that has roofing in the company name. What do you do or say? The local media has always been posting scam alerts and how you should not open your door to roofers. Here is the truth on this matter. Before opening the door you can make a quick assessment on whether you should or not by the appearance of the individual and what they are driving. A well-dressed person in a company vehicle is more than likely a local company trying to save you from the out of towners or scammers.

What to do with the roofer at your door

Can you trust this guy at your door?

If in doubt you can politely ask them to leave their card or information at your door and look at later. Now this person at your door starts talking to you offering to do a free inspection on your property. What do you say now? You don’t really know what hail damage looks like so this sounds really good to you. Before you give the ok be sure to ask if they are insured and a local company. If they are they should be able to provide that information to you.It had just stopped raining so you don’t want anyone on your roof unless you have an immediate issue such as a leak. If you do you will want to quickly look them up to see if they are someone that you would even want to do business with.

With technology today we have access to just about anything with our phones. The best way to check is by doing a quick search on the Better Business Bureau to see what rating their company has and how many complaints they have, if any. Let’s say you didn’t notice any leaks and you would rather not have anyone get on your roof until it is safer. That’s a good decision but you can still have them inspect everything at ground level. By looking at some of the damage on ground level it should give a good idea on what to expect on your roof.

Free roof inspection

If you can, do a walk through with them so they can point out some things that you may have overlooked. During the inspection you notice dents to your downspouts and gutters. Some windows may have some cracks and your screens will have holes through them or be completely shredded. Paint may be chipped off siding, trim and decking. Your outdoor furniture may be damaged as well. Chances are very high your roof is damaged and require replacement. Again, you may want to make sure they have worker’s compensation insurance that is valid in the state of Colorado before allowing them on your roof.

Ask for a free roof inspection and property damage inspection, if you’re interested

Send them away and if you’d like research their roofing company online

You now know the extent of damages but don’t want to commit to any company just yet. It’s really important to do your homework and look into any company before making any decisions. You can set an appointment for the following day for them to come back out. This will give you time to make sure what they say is correct about their company. You may find they have horrible reviews and need to tell them you are not interested. Or maybe they have great reviews and everything they said is true and you are curious to hear more.
